| The proliferation of customer B2B portals and the
requirement for suppliers to maintain their own company data in
customer systems via these portals has brought the issue of customer
specific identifications and database requirements into sharp focus.
Through Odette, several European OEMs and major Tier1 suppliers
have worked together to develop a recommendation for a universal
partner identification code and a common basic company dataset
that can be exchanged electronically with all customers in the
automotive industry.
The Partner Identification & Database (PID) Recommendation
consists of 3 main elements:
• A universal party identification scheme to
replace the current multitude of customer allocated identifiers
• A standard dataset that should satisfy the basic supplier information
requirements of most automotive customers
• A set of XML message specifications that can be used by suppliers to
exchange this data with customers in order to create or modify their company
records in their customers’ databases.
Odette is promoting the implementation of the
PID Recommendation by its member companies and is happy to assist
in the deployment of any pilot project between Odette members.
