Odette meets with counterparts from Japan

Odette recently hosted a delegation from the Japanese Automotive Manufacturers Association (JAMA), who were in London to find out about our latest activities and to learn about our experiences in implementing several of our best practice recommendations.

The fourteen vehicle manufacturer members of JAMA are hoping to rationalize their B2B data exchanges and want to connect more effectively with their many small to medium sized suppliers to reduce the current large amount of paperwork and manual entry of data. A challenge clearly faced by the automotive industry worldwide.

The visitors were particularly keen to learn about the roll-out of our auto-gration solution in Germany and France. We were also able to report how several German vehicle manufacturers are using auto-gration to exchange data on prototype parts with their suppliers and its proposed use for eInvoicing in 2014.

Next on the agenda was the experience of using OFTP2 for secure transfer of confidential data over the internet throughout the wider European industry and the growth of its use around the world, supported in many cases by digital certificates issued by the Odette Certification Authority.

Another item of interest was the work we are doing on Supply Chain Risk management, which is a concern to everyone in the industry wherever they are located; RFID and the Global MMOG/LE V4 were also discussed.

JAMA, Odette and AIAG (the US automotive association) have many years of experience in working together within the Joint Automotive Industry Forum (JAIF) and such visits are part of the continuing close co-operation between our three associations.
