Odette CA moves to SHA-2 from September 14th 2015
Several announcements have
been made recently by the IT security community regarding the SHA-1 signature
algorithm which is considered capable of being broken at some time in the near
future. The Odette Certificate Authority (CA) has therefore decided to switch
to signing its certificates using the SHA-256 signature algorithm (commonly
known as SHA-2). This switch will take place
over the weekend of 12th/13th September
All providers of Odette recommended OFTP2 software have confirmed that their OFTP2 products are ready to use SHA2 certificates.
For certificate users no immediate action is required. When you decide
to renew your Odette CA certificate, the SHA-256 algorithm will be used to sign
the new certificate and the enhanced security will be automatically applied to
your OFTP2 connections.
