Review of European labelling standards under way
Current labelling standards including the Global Transport
Label were developed several years ago and it has become apparent that they are
not completely meeting the latest business requirements. Several initiatives
have been proposed at national level with the aim of reviewing and updating the
various solutions currently in use, with work scheduled to start in some cases
as early as Q1 2015.
These different initiatives require coordination in order to
retain common European solutions for the benefit of both suppliers and OEMs. At the initiative of the Odette TC, it has been agreed to
organise a meeting in order to make an inventory of the current situation and
agree on a common way forward. This meeting is planned to take place on 20/21 January 2015 in either Paris or
Berlin. New labelling requirements for the supply chain, transport
and aftermarket perspectives will be considered as well as a complete review of
existing and new technologies.
