Daimler rolls out OFTP2

It is aimed mainly at transactions involving engineering data, but confidential documents and pictures as well as IT data are also in scope. There are in fact no restrictions to the type of partners who will use OFTP2 to exchange confidential data with Daimler.
Daimler expect to see several benefits over the other methods of file transfer used up to now. They tell us that data transfer will be faster and they can send larger files - the only restriction will be the available bandwidth, which depends on the infrastructure of the exchanging partners.
The other important consideration that they highlighted is that they can now connect all suppliers worldwide who have internet access (and at a lower cost).
