PPWR Implementation — Odette Workshop in Paris Focuses on Practical Industry Solutions
08 Jun 2026
This shift in focus is reinforced by the upcoming PPWR workshop organised by Odette International in Paris on 16–17 June, bringing together vehicle manufacturers, tier suppliers and Odette National Associations. The event is now fully booked, reflecting the high level of industry interest in the challenges ahead.
How to ensure the conformity of packaging with the EU Regulations and how to obtain the necessary data from packaging suppliers will be a central theme of the workshop. With the 12 August(*) deadline fast approaching, discussions will focus on practical solutions that build on existing processes, and which can be implemented quickly. Participants will examine short-term approaches while assessing the future role of digital messages such as the Odette Packaging Master Data Message as a longer-term solution.
Another key priority is Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), as national schemes are already requiring financial and operational obligations. Companies will share their experiences of EPR reporting, cost allocation and data collection, providing practical insight into how compliance is being managed across the industry.
Other topics on the agenda include:
• Marking and labelling challenges
• The use of recycled content in plastic packaging
The Paris workshop reflects a broader industry shift from analysing PPWR requirements to implementing practical solutions. The outcomes are expected to help shape common approaches across the automotive supply chain as companies prepare for the imminent implementation of PPWR.
Key findings and workshop outcomes will be published on www.odette.org
(*) General enforcement date for the Regulation. From this date, all businesses placing packaging or packaged goods on the EU market must legally prove their packaging complies with new circularity requirements. Compliance requires a legally binding self-declaration (Declaration of Conformity) and verifiable technical documentation.
