Several announcements have
been made recently by the IT security community regarding the SHA-1 signature
algorithm which is considered capable of being broken at some time in the near
future. The Odette Certificate Authority (CA) has therefore decided to switch
to signing its certificates using the SHA-256 signature algorithm (commonly
known as SHA-2). This switch will take place
over the weekend of 12th/13th September
The conference will focus on the use of
innovative technologies and concepts to overcome the challenges facing the
automotive supply chain both today and tomorrow.
With the retirement of John Canvin from his position as MD of Odette International, the six National Organisation shareholders of Odette (AIA, ANFAC, GALIA, Odette Sweden, SMMT and VDA) have decided to change the previous governance model so that they can become more closely involved in the day to day management of Odette activities.
Since setting up the new structure, the Odette Bureau has been busy defining project priorities in line with industry requirements and managers have been appointed for the Priority 1 projects.
In April, John Canvin, retired from his position as Managing Director of Odette International. John had been with Odette since 1999 and leaves the organisation in a strong position. He was instrumental in setting up new Odette services for the worldwide automotive industry and we give our warmest thanks to John for these achievements and for his unstinting efforts to keep Odette at the forefront of initiatives to improve the performance of the European automotive supply chain.
The Odette OFTP2 Experts Group regularly reviews the protocol
in order to ensure that it continues to meet current business and security
requirements. The group has recently recommended several updates to the OFTP2 Implementation
Guidelines to ensure that the large and growing OFTP2 community remains secure.
