The 7th Forum Automobil Logistics, FAL2019, organised by the VDA in conjunction with the German Logistics Association BVL, will take place on 5 and 6 February at the BMW World in Munich.
In last week's Odette2018 Conference Spotlight, we highlighted how Digital Transformation is impacting every aspect of the automotive supply chain.
Today our spotlight is focused on Returnable Packaging which is now almost universally adopted throughout the industry. But the use of Returnable Packaging brings two major management headaches:
How to ensure that suppliers have an adequate and optimum quantity of empties and at the same time keeping control of what are expensive assets.
Odette2018 Conference & Exhibition taking place in Lille France on 12/13 November, you will learn how major OEMS are using digital messaging and the latest AutoID technology to achieve these often contradictory objectives.
The whole automotive industry is on the brink of revolution in terms of both the propulsion and the control of vehicles. Whatever the future of mobility looks like as a result of these seismic changes, it is clear that the supply chain will be playing an even more crucial role in automotive production while, at the same time, undergoing its own revolution in terms of digital transformation. The Odette2018 Conference & Exhibition taking place in Lille France on 12/13 November will attempt to provide clearer perspectives on the future landscape of the industry and facilitate networking amongst supply chain professionals from across the world as they grapple with the tremendous challenges that confront them on a daily basis.
Although the current Excel based MMOG/LE tool has served the industry well over the past decade, Odette has now launched a modern browser based application called MMOG.np (new platform) to take its place.
Odette International is delighted to announce the launch of OdetteSecure on Monday 25 June. OdetteSecure combines the previously separate OSCAR and CA services in a single portal allowing our customers to access their portfolio of Odette IDs (OSCAR) and Digital Certificates (CA) with a single sign-on.
Lille - 12 & 13 November
This year the Odette International Conference & Exhibition takes place in Lille, the northern powerhouse of the French automotive industry. Work on the programme is already well underway and we are delighted to be able to announce two keynote speakers for the event:
Francesca GAMBONI, Senior Vice-President Supply Chain, Peugeot Groupe
Jürgen MAIDL, Senior Vice-President Supply Chain, BMW
These prestigious speakers will be sharing their insights on the drive to digital of the automotive supply chain.
Although the current Excel based MMOG/LE tool has served the industry well over the past decade, Odette has now developed a modern browser based application called MMOG.np (new platform) to take its place. MMOG/LE users from both sides of the Atlantic have been involved in the development and testing of this new platform to ensure that it meets not only the current needs but also the ‘wish lists’ of both customers and suppliers in the automotive supply chain.
While the digitalisation of supply chain processes upstream from vehicle manufacturers has been underway for many years, the processes downstream from the manufacturer have been somewhat neglected up to now.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is becoming an increasingly important Auto ID technology in the automotive industry. It is used to identify assets, track the movement of parts, packaging and transport equipment through the logistics process and record the use of components and assemblies in production.
Automotive OEMs encourage the use of Returnable Packaging, generally known as Returnable Transport Items (RTI), to move parts from their suppliers to their production lines or after-sales facilities. RTIs enable companies to eliminate the costs involved in the disposal of one-way packaging such as cardboard boxes and also help to reduce the environmental footprint of the automotive industry.
